Following a 2021 season in which he hit .321 with 21 doubles and 12 home runs at Walters State, Fisher transferred to Charlotte where his level of production only increased. He popped 18 home runs and 17 doubles during his debut season with the 49ers and in 2023 was one of college baseball’s premier sluggers. He was one of three Division I players to eclipse the 30-homer mark and finished with 30 home runs, 14 doubles and a scorching .347/.505/.809 slash line, as well as a 21.4% strikeout rate and 21.4% walk rate. While Fisher has some of the best accessible power in the class, he’s an extreme pull hitter and also has a decent amount of swing-and-miss in his game that could be amplified in pro ball. He’s struggled to make contact against both 92-plus mph velocity at a steady rate and quality spin, though when he does connect his above-average bat speed, strength and tight turn from the left side sends the ball a long way—with 90th percentile exit velocity numbers around 110 mph. At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Fisher is a definite corner outfield profile who runs OK for his size once he gets started but has a slow first step out of the box. He’s old for the class and will be 22 on draft day, but could be a priority senior sign among the top five rounds thanks to his gaudy power numbers.

Track Record: Fisher was well traveled by the time he reached Charlotte in 2022, having spent the 2021 season with Walters State (Tenn.) JC after a redshirt freshman season with Ole Miss in 2020. Fisher impressed across two seasons with the 49ers, earning second team freshman All-American honors in 2022 before making Conference USA first team all-conference in 2023. Fisher was one of three players in Division I with 30 or more home runs in 2023. The Astros selected Fisher in the fourth round, signing him for $497,000. He played one game in the Florida Complex League before making the jump to Low-A Fayetteville.

Scouting Report: Fisher’s profile is driven by his plus raw power and his on-base ability, with legitimate questions around his bat-to-ball skills. His contact quality is impressive, but not always consistent. Fisher is prone to swinging and missing against velocity above 93 mph as well as quality breaking balls. He has mitigated some of his swing and miss with above-average swing decisions and ultimately shows above-average on-base skills. Fisher’s power is plus and he has the knack to drive balls to his pull side. He likely will never get to all of his raw power due to his contact concerns. Fisher is a below-average runner and fringe-average fielder in the outfield corners, and his average arm plays in all three outfield spots.

The Future: As a three-true-outcome slugger with a corner outfielder’s defensive profile, Fisher will need to hit to crack a lineup as a second-division regular.
