Specht is a lean and projectable, 6-foot-2, 189-pound outfielder with a solid tool set now and a quiet swing from the left side that generates hard line-drive contact. He has shown a swing that works from the left side, with a bat path geared to drive the ball into the air and gap-to-gap power that should turn into more home runs as he continues to fill out his frame. Scouts noted that he added strength this spring, but some thought the additional mass stiffened up his swing, and there are those who wonder how much contact he’s going to make in the long run. He’s a good athlete and an above-average runner, with arm strength that should allow him to handle all three outfield positions. He should be able to play center field initially but looks like the sort of player who could outgrow the position and profile nicely as a good defender in an outfield corner. Specht is committed to Kentucky.
