Track Record: Figuereo signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2021 and put himself on the map a year later with a scorching performance in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League that included nine home runs. He was part of a very young group that moved to Low-A and took their lumps all season.
Scouting Report: Catch him on the right day, and you can clearly see Figuereo’s ceiling. He’s a muscularly gifted player with more than enough raw power to profile at third base. He needs to do a better job recognizing and laying off spin so he can actually get pitches he can drive. His chase and whiff numbers are high, and he needs to tone down his aggression so he can take a few more walks. He’s also vexed by lefthanders, who held him to just a .493 OPS in 2023. Figuereo will make highlight-reel plays that allow him to show off a nearly double-plus arm, but he has to get more consistent on routine plays. He needs to improve the finer points, including footwork and transfers. He’s a well below-average runner.
The Future: Figuereo will likely return to Low-A in 2024 and will have to show significant improvement to reach his ceiling.

BA Grade/Risk: 50/Very High
Track Record: Figuereo wasn't a big-name signing out of the 2021 international class, but big time strength gains with the help of trainer and former big leaguer Edinson Volquez. Figuereo scorched the ACL with nine home runs, which tied him for second on the circuit. His offensive numbers were all over the league leaderboard and he was one of three Rangers to rank among the league's Top 10.
Scouting Report: Figuereo's added strength complemented a loose, whippy swing with an excellent bat path to go with sound swing decisions to go with enough raw juice to produce max exit velos of 106 mph. He also tweaked his setup, becoming more upright to generate even more power and improved leverage. He's also shown the ability to manipulate his barrel and make loud contact on more than just fastballs. Defensively, Figuereo has significant improvements to make. His throwing arm is plenty strong for the hot corner but needs to get much more accurate if he's to stick there in the long term. He's got OK footwork but he has a tendency to rush through plays.
The Future: Figuereo got a taste of Low-A to end the season and will return there in 2023. His goals for the season will revolve around getting better defensively and maintaining the progress he showed in Arizona. If he does it again, he could shoot up the rankings.

Midseason Update: Figuereo, who was part of the Rangers' 2021 international class, used the pandemic season to get in much better shape and has seen the results already. Scouts internally and externally point to Figuereo's feel for the barrel and strong knowledge of the strike zone as the markings of a potentially enticing combination of hittability and power that will profile at third base. He's not going to wow anybody on defense, but his feet work well and he has enough arm strength for the position, though his internal clock could use some refinement.
