Drafted in the 11th round (332nd overall) by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2013.

It's time for Hillis to play pro ball. He was one of Tennessee's top high school prospects entering the 2009 draft before a modest spring dropped his stock. A 49th-round pick by the Cardinals, he headed to Tennessee instead, then didn't pitch for the Volunteers after having Tommy John surgery. He moved on to NAIA power Lee, where he has settled in as a reliever and has filled out his 6-foot-7, 235-pound frame. After throwing in the 88-90 mph range as a high schooler, Hills now lights up radar guns. He touches 99 mph and regularly sits in the 94-96 range, leading to dominant results (0.53 ERA, 62 SO in 34 IP, .115 opponent average). His breaking ball has flashed above-average potential but he lacks consistency with it, and when runners are on base he goes with the heater. Scouts long have questioned Hillis' ability to work through adversity on the mound, and as a result project him as a set-up reliever despite a closer's fastball.
