Dotson pitched in the upper 80s and touched 91 during 2022, but he came out of the gate in 2023 with a bigger fastball, a pitch that touched 93-94 mph at peak velocity even if he still settled into the upper 80s on average. Dotson has a lean and projectable 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame and showed some feel for a curveball, though there are scouts who are intrigued with his ability as a lefthanded hitter as well. He throws with an uphill delivery and a high, three-quarter arm slot. At the 2023 MLB Draft Combine, Dotson pitched in the 90-92 mph range for an inning and spun a softer, mid-70s curveball with 12-to-6 shape, while also flashing an 83-84 mph changeup that needs a bit more feel. He’s got a solid package of stuff from the left side, but needs to add a bit more power, improve his lower half usage and take a step forward with his command. Dotson is committed to Mississippi State and will be 19 on draft day, making him a draft-eligible sophomore in 2025 if he does get to campus.
