Hernandez is a 5-foot-10, 205-pound lefthander who spent two seasons with Miami Dade JC before pitching as Miami’s Sunday starter for the 2024 season. It was far from a dominant season as he posted a 6.47 ERA in 65.1 innings with a 27.7% strikeout rate and 10.0% walk rate, but Hernandez does have intriguing fastball traits. He averaged 92 mph and was up to 95 but has above-average induced vertical break on the pitch. His secondaries are both fringy at best and need work, with his mid-70s curveball perhaps better than his low-80s slider, and he’s also mixed in a firm changeup in the upper 80s. He could be a day three pick as a lefthander with a solid fastball and solid control.
