In his four years at Stony Brook, Peragine has done it all. He was a contributing freshman on the 2012 team that made a run to Omaha, and has played a key role on three separate America East-winning teams. As a senior, Peragine took his strong arm and quick-twitch athleticism behind the plate, helping his team fill a need and also boosting his draft stock. Peragine lacks a plus tool, but he has many fringe-average tools. At the plate, he is a switch hitter with two short strokes and a refined feel for the strike zone. Peragine has below-average bat speed but has a knack for poking away pitches on the corners, and in 2015 he worked 49 walks and struck out just 19 times. Defensively, he's played shortstop in the past, and has the quickness to remain behind the plate, with the ability to block balls in the dirt and react quickly to pitches that miss his low target. Peragine is far from a finished product defensively, but has the tools to stick behind the plate. Scouts see him as a efficient senior sign.
