Drafted in the 8th round (253rd overall) by the Washington Nationals in 2017 (signed for $10,000).

Teams looking for priority senior signs to stretch their budget could pop Brasher, a former member of Samford's rotation who shifted to the bullpen as a senior after repeated control issues. Brasher walked 147 in 176 career innings, including 30 in 33.2 innings this season, but his stuff also took a leap forward this year. He's reached 98 mph, at times sitting 93-96, and he's flashed a hard slider in the mid-80s consistently, at times up to 88 mph. Area scouts have seen Brasher, a physical 6-foot-1, 200-pounder, struggle to throw strikes for years, but his undeniable arm strength needs pro instruction to see if it can be harnessed.

A Samford signee, Brasher entered the spring as one of the top prospects in Alabama and had a strong summer on the showcase circuit, including a spot in the Under Armour All-America game. He is 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, and at his best he has touched 94 mph with a slurvy breaking ball. Brasher has a long arm action that makes it hard for him to repeat the quality of his stuff, and his velocity was reportedly down in the 88-91 mph range this spring. Scouts also don't see a lot of projection remaining.
