Along with Dylan Baker, Spencer is one of the better stories in this year's draft. Both players went undrafted out of high school before making a name for themselves at Western Nevada by helping lead the Wildcats to the Junior College World Series. Spencer has lots of late life on a fastball that typically sits in the 91-93 mph range and touches 95. He changes grips on the pitch to get different movemen and can cut or sink it to generate groundballs. Spencer mixes in a solid cutter and a chanageup in the 82-85 mph range. He's started and relieved at Western Nevada, but profiles best as a sinker/slider-type reliever in pro ball. Spencer is committed to New Mexico for next year but is expected to sign if he goes in the top 10 rounds.
