The Royals nabbed a pair of fleet outfielders out of Gulf Coast (Fla.) CC in this year's draft, with 14th-rounder Toney showing more advanced baseball skills than speedier 20th-rounder Terrance Gore. Toney batted .340/.432/.587, prompting his manager, Darryl Kennedy, to compare him to Ron Gant for his power-speed combination in a small package. Toney is still learning how to use his solid speed on the bases, where he was caught in 11 of 18 steal attempts. He split time between left and center field, with the Royals forcing him to play shallow to give him more experience going back on balls. His arm is average.
