Drafted in the 24th round (708th overall) by the Texas Rangers in 2015.
View Draft Report
The Braves took a shot at Perritt in the 17th round in 2014, but he opted to return to Liberty for a fourth year. Perritt is a two-way player, and has shown well with the bat this spring, but it's his promise on the mound that has scouts interested. He got off to a slow start in 2015, battling stamina and command issues early on in the season. When he hit his groove, Perritt was able to touch 95 mph with his fastball and pitch comfortable in the low 90s. Perritt has never focused solely on pitching, as his raw athleticism plays well in center field and he has feel at the plate. If and when he focuses solely on pitching, Perritt could develop into a promising relief arm.

A catalyst in leading Liberty to its second straight trip to regionals, Perritt is a two-way player who has handled center field and high-leverage relief innings. He is a plus athlete who has run the 60-yard dash in 6.5 seconds, but his future is likely on the mound. He touched 95 mph last year and pitched at 90-93 down the stretch this year, after working at 88-92 early, when he was banged up because of his two-way duties. His secondary stuff has improved, but his curveball and changeup will need development, as will his delivery. Still, he filled up the strike zone, especially for someone with such little mound time. His athleticism and relative inexperience with pitching give him upside, though he likely projects as a reliever. He has room to get stronger at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds.
