A switch-hitter, Kerian had a monster season for the best team in Illini history, which lost to Vanderbilt in a super regional. Kerian had hit three home runs in his first three seasons, which included a first-team all-Big Ten season in 2013. But he hit 16 in 2015 with the new flat-seam baseballs having something to do with it, earning Big Ten player of the year. He's a physically mature hitter who takes good at-bats but has just average to fringe tools. He lacks a true carrying tool but has some pop and runs enough to play some left field.
