Carpenter has been a starter for the vast majority of his three years at Oklahoma, but his defensive versatility means he never really found a home defensively. He's played first, second and third base in addition to getting a little time in left field. His best position in pro ball is second base, especially after he began to get his power this season. He's not particularly big (6-foot, 175 pound) but he has enough pop to potentially hit 5-10 home runs a year. He most likely profiles as a versatile second/third baseman who finds a pro role because of his versatility.
