Gardner's father--Scott Gardner--played in the minors in the early 80s, and he's about to follow in his father's footsteps. Gardner has improved since transferring to UT-Arlington from junior college. He pitches mostly at 88-91 and touches 92, though there were some rumors late in the season that his velocity had ticked up. He shows sharp-spinning breaking balls, throwing both a slider and a curve.
