Futrell stood out in high school for his projectable frame and advanced feel for pitching. Now listed at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, Futrell has lived up to his reputation as a strike thrower, and managed a sub-6% walk rate in each of his two seasons with Vanderbilt. Futrell is still light on swing-and-miss stuff, however, with a fastball that averaged 89-90 mph and has been up to 94, a changeup around 80, an upper-70s slurvy breaking ball and a slower curveball in the mid 70s that he used ust 5% of the time in 2023.
