Kozeal arrived on campus with the reputation of being one of the more polished freshman hitters in his class, and so far he has lived up to the billing. He successfully carved out an everyday role for himself and has gotten off to a strong start. Kozeal has a short, direct swing with above-average bat speed that is tailored toward spraying all parts of the field with line drives. It is definitely a hit-over-power profile, though Kozeal has some thump packed into his physical frame and is far from a slash-and-dash hitter. He is consistently on the barrel and routinely turns in quality at-bats. A former high school quarterback, Kozeal is an excellent athlete who is a steady defender at second base. His baseball sense is extremely advanced, a quality that he shows game in and game out. -

A two-time Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year, Kozeal is a classic throwback ball player who can impact the game in multiple facets. Standing in from the left side at 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, Kozeal possesses a short and compact stroke with some lift and impressive bat-to-ball skills. He has a history of performing against high-caliber pitching as a member of USA Baseball’s 18U National Team, with the ability to use all fields with his gap-to-gap approach that has put himself in the category as one of the most intriguing high school bats in the country. Though his hit tool is the standout skill, Kozeal’s defense is well-rounded and consistent, as he has an accurate, solid-average arm with adequate range. Second base may ultimately be his home, but due to his high baseball IQ and instincts, he will have the ability to move around the dirt as a solid-average defensive contributor. Omaha is a baseball city and has turned out highly-touted prospects over the past decade, with most of those high school players choosing college over signing professionally. Kozeal is committed to Vanderbilt, where he could be an immediate contributor in 2024.
