McNeillie pitches at the same Milton High program that produced righthander Dylan Cease in 2014, and while he doesn’t have the same sort of velocity that Cease did at the time, he is one of the top prep pitching prospects in Georgia for the 2023 class. A slender, 6-foot-3, 165-pound righthander, McNeillie has an easy, athletic operation on the mound and impressive ability to spin the ball. He has pitched mostly in the upper 80s and lower 90s, but scouts think he could be a candidate to add velocity if he can pack a bit more size onto his lean frame. McNeillie’s curveball is the bread-and-butter of his profile as it stands currently. He throws the pitch in the upper 70s and it features tons of diving action in front of the plate, with 11-to-5 shape and spin rates in the 2,500 rpm range. The pitch has above-average potential, especially if he’s able to add more power. On top of the curveball, McNeillie has shown some feel for a low-80s changeup that could give him a second swing-and-miss secondary. The pitch was particularly effective at Perfect Game’s National Showcase, where it was both a chase offering and in-zone whiff generator. Because scouts are still waiting for him to add more power and velocity, he could make it to campus at Florida, where he has significant upside potential in three years.
