LeGuernic entered the spring with a lot to like. He doesn’t turn 18 until October, so he’s younger than even a lot of 2024 high school players. He has a tall, projectable frame (6-foot-5, 200 pounds), throws without much effort and has a fastball that ticked up last summer to reach 93 mph with the strength projection for more. This spring, LeGuernic has been solid, but his stuff hasn’t taken the step forward many scouts were hoping to see. He has sat 87-91 mph, touching a tick higher, generating sink from a crossfire delivery into a low three-quarter slot. LeGuernic’s feel for pitching is solid for his age, but like a lot of long, lanky teenagers, he will need to tighten his control. He has feel to spin a 75-81 mph slider that can be a swing-and-miss pitch at times and should become a bigger weapon for him once he’s stronger and throwing it with more power, but it’s an inconsistent pitch. He seldom throws an 83-85 mph changeup that’s still in its nascent stages. LeGuernic has a chance to pop once he gets stronger, but with nothing plus right now, he requires a deeper level of projection than a lot of high school arms ahead of him with more present stuff, factors that could get him to Clemson in the fall.
