After putting up a 5.02 ERA in 28.2 innings as a reliever in 2021, Hall developed into one of the best starting pitchers in college baseball in 2022. He went 9-3 with a 2.81 ERA and posted a 146-to-14 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 109 innings, which placed him fourth in the country in strikeouts and tops among starters in strikeout-to-walk ratio. He pitched with USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team that summer, then in 2023 was the ace of the Southern Mississippi team that made super regionals. He posted a 2.48 ERA over 112.1 innings, with a 27.3% strikeout rate and 7.3% walk rate. Listed at 6-foot-1, 186 pounds, Hall works out of a simple and repeatable delivery with a fairly compact and loose arm action and lower, three-quarter slot. Hall isn’t going to overpower hitters with his fastball, which sits in the 89-90 mph range and touches 93-94, but he spots the pitch with precision and it features plenty of sink and run. His go-to secondary is one of the better changeups in the class, a low-80s offering that tunnels nicely with his fastball shape with tons of tumble and some cutting action at times—and like his fastball he shows tremendous feel for this pitch as well. Hall also throws a low-80s slider but it can flatten out at times and is a distant third offering. Hall isn’t your prototypical starting pitcher prospect, but his plus command and lengthy track record as a high-performing starter should make him a 3-5 round pick.
