Stovall was a highly-ranked prep hitter in the 2021 class who made it to campus at Arkansas and was expected to be an immediate contributor thanks to his polished pure hitting ability. He struggled to live up to those expectations during his first two seasons with the program and hit under .300 in both seasons with just six and five home runs, respectively. Stovall reclaimed some of his previous prep draft stock in 2024, however, and slashed .340/.409/.535 with nine home runs in a career-best season that has put him back into top-five round consideration. A 5-foot-11, 200-pound second baseman and lefthanded hitter, Stovall has a solid approach at the plate with a simple operation outside of a late hand hitch and bat waggle that can disrupt his timing a bit. He has a chance for an average hit tool thanks to an ability to spray the ball to all fields and make a solid amount of contact, though his in-game power production might be more of a below-average tool without much physical projection to dream on for more. Stovall can turn in average run times from home-to-first, but he’s been a fringy defender at second base who will need to work to stick at the position and play it well. His profile is similar to Yankees 2023 fourth-rounder Roc Riggio.
