Earning All-American honors in 2023, alongside teammate Peyton Tolle, Rodden picked up where he left off a year ago for Wichita State, hitting .371/.474/.701 with 18 doubles, 17 home runs and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 39-to-26. A contact bat with sneaky thump, the switch-hitting middle infielder has a very quick set of hands with the ability to hit the ball where it’s pitched. He has the ability to level off his swing on pitches up in the zone and square the tough strike down. Hitting .296 from the right side and .409 from the left, Rodden’s hit tool projects to carry him at the professional level. Though his stolen base numbers may not indicate it (12-for-15), Rodden is a plus runner, and with professional baseball becoming more speed friendly, expect Rodden’s speed to play a bigger impact in the pro ranks as well. Defensively, Rodden’s keen instincts and quick first step lines him up perfectly for second base, the position he has held down for the Shockers the past two years. Contributing in the outfield is not out of the question and will add versatility to his defensive profile. Rodden, who was drafted in the 10th round last year by the A’s but chose not to sign, has a strong chance to hear his name called sooner this July after increasing his draft stock this season.
