School: Oklahoma
Commit/Drafted: Never Drafted
Age at Draft: 21.8
Nicklaus is a small 6-foot, 195-pound second baseman who hit under .300 in his first two seasons at Oklahoma, but still got on base at near a 40% clip thanks to a solid batting eye. He cut his strikeout rate significantly from 2023 to 2024 and has had a breakout junior season with a .378/.511/.613 slash line through his first 34 games. Nicklaus is a strong fastball hitter who makes plenty of contact against heaters and has performed well against 92+ mph velocity, but he struggles with spin and off-speed stuff. He has consistently done a nice job staying within the zone against all pitch types, however, which has allowed him to minimize his contact issues and still provide productive at-bats.
