View Draft Report
Reimer is the latest draft prospect to come out of Yucaipa (Calif.) High, the rural power that produced Mets righthander Taijuan Walker and Orioles righthander Tyler Wells among a long list of former and current major leaguers. He starred on the summer showcase circuit and entered the year considered one of the top prep position players in the country, but a mixed showing this spring led to divided opinions about his future. Reimer is a strong, physical infielder with a mature, 6-foot, 207-pound frame. He has plus raw power and puts on shows in batting practice with long drives that leave the park in a hurry. He impressed high-level decision-makers at USA Baseball's National High School Invitational with a short, compact swing, a patient approach and natural feel for the barrel in games, providing optimism he'll make enough contact to get to his power. Area scouts who watched Reimer on a more frequent basis, however, saw a stiff hitter who struggles against good velocity with an uphill swing that goes in and out of the zone too quickly. He also has an arm bar in his swing that he'll need to clean up. Reimer has a thick, maxed-out frame and will move off of shortstop immediately at higher levels. His hands and arm strength are fine for third base, but he lacks mobility and range and struggles to make plays on the run. He may end up at first base or left field, and some teams want to make him a catcher. Teams that saw Reimer well at NHSI think he could be a power-hitting third baseman and are interested in him early on the draft's second day. Others are skeptical about both his offense and defense and are content to let him go to college. He is committed to Washington.

BA Grade: 50/High
Track Record: Most teams wanted to see Reimer continue his development in college, but the Mets were convinced in his ability and went over slot to sign him for $775,000 in the fourth round in 2022. He stumbled through the early stages of the season at Low-A St. Lucie in 2023 before he put up a .995 OPS in his final 40 games at the level and moved to High-A Brooklyn as a 19-year-old on Aug. 1. Reimer’s .399 on-base percentage trailed only Jett Williams in the system and ranked top 10 among minor league teenagers with at least 400 plate appearances.
Scouting Report: Reimer is a disciplined hitter who can handle third base but needs to get to more game power to round out his profile. To that end, he worked to improve his bat speed at Driveline in the offseason. Reimer has a large 6-foot-2 frame with large hands and above-average raw power, so if he can sculpt his body and add more oomph to his batted balls, he could deliver average-or-better hitting ability and power. A high school shortstop, Reimer is a capable third baseman in pro ball with near-average potential and an average arm. He has occasionally played first base, and the Mets have considered adding corner outfielder versatility to his profile. He is a below-average runner who won’t factor for stolen bases.
The Future: Reimer adapted to pro ball because of his excellent swing decisions, even if his surface production was muted by tough hitting environments in St. Lucie and Brooklyn. His age-20 season in 2024 will give the Mets a better idea of his hitting upside and whether he might develop a carrying tool.

Track Record: Reimer hails from rural California power Yucaipa High and starred on the showcase circuit as a rising senior. He caught the attention of decision-makers with his hitting ability and swing decisions at the 2022 National High School Invitational. Still, questions about his maxed-out physique and performance against velocity pushed Reimer to the fourth round, where the Mets drafted him and went over-slot to sign him for $775,000. He got into seven Florida Complex League games and showed bat-to-ball skill, discipline and encouraging power.
Scouting Report: The Mets stayed on Reimer all spring, even as many other teams lost interest, and came away convinced that improvements he made were real. Reimer has a physical 6-foot-2 frame, large hands and present strength. He puts on a show in batting practice and did not look fazed in his brief pro debut. Area scouts dinged him for a stiff, uphill swing that goes in and out of the hitting zone quickly, but he counteracts that with a discerning eye and raw power that grades at least plus. A shortstop in high school, Reimer will develop as a third baseman and to stick there will have to improve his range, mobility and ability to throw on the run. He is a below-average runner who is not a factor on the bases.
The Future: It all comes down to the bat for Reimer. He faces the potential for further moves down the defensive spectrum but has a chance to stand out in the batter's box.

A strong, filled-out infielder with a 6-foot, 207-pound frame, Reimer stood out to scouts during the showcase circuit in 2021 with a short, compact swing and plenty of feel for putting the barrel on the baseball. He received mixed feedback from the industry this spring with Yucaipa, as scouts were more critical of how well his swing works thanks to an arm bar and a barrel that gets in and out of the zone too quickly for some. However, at USA Baseball’s National High School Invitational in April, he looked like one of the better pure hitters who could turn on the ball or use the opposite field. While Reimer is close to maxed out without much physical projection remaining, he has plenty of strength and raw power now, and can put on a show in batting practice—though during games he has looked like more of a contact bat. A shortstop now, Reimer will move off the position at the next level. His hands and throwing arm are fine, but he lacks the lateral mobility and range necessary for the middle of the diamond and could be a better fit for third base, where his instincts and glovework could play nicely. Reimer is committed to Washington.
