Stone is a large, 5-foot-10, 225-pound lefthander with solid pitching ability now. Because of his frame, feel for pitching and a fastball that sits in the 89-94 mph range, he draws some comparisons to current Florida State lefthander Parker Messick. Stone has thrown both a slider and a curveball, but both pitches need more power and refinement to give him a reliable swing-and-miss secondary. He has also flashed a changeup in the upper 70s and low 80s. Stone’s feel for strikes is his best tool now, but teams might prefer to see him go to college at Jacksonville and prove his stuff can miss more advanced bats.
