Cox is one of the more talented high school prospects in the Lone Star state this year. The athletic, 6-foot-2, 190-pound outfielder projects to fill out even more, with a tool set that doesn’t feature many weaknesses. Standing in from the left side, Cox’s compact stroke is smooth through the zone with gap power. Scouts expect his power to increase as he matures. Cox has good instincts in center field, with an arm that has been clocked up to 94 mph from the outfield, and is a plus runner—posting a 6.6-second 60-yard dash time—and scouts expect him to stay in center field for now. Cox’s well-rounded game simply lacks experience. Also a talented football prospect, it’s unclear whether he will play both sports for Texas.
