An extra-large, 6-foot-3, 240-pound righthander, Moffett has spent this spring lighting up radar guns. He stood out early on at Prep Baseball Report’s Super 60 showcase, where he touched 97 mph and was invited to MLB’s second draft combine and continued to show a fastball into the mid 90s. That’s a jump from last summer, when Moffett threw in the upper 80s and lower 90s, with a mid-70s downer curveball and a low-80s changeup. Moffett has plenty of effort and head whack in his delivery, which portends a future as a reliever, but he has significant arm talent, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he was throwing 100 mph in the future. He is committed to Louisiana State.
