  Thomas teamed with Jaden Noot to give Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) High one of the best high school pitching duos in the nation this spring. After an ugly showing at the Area Code Games last summer, Thomas cleaned up his delivery and returned throwing harder with improved control to become one of the biggest risers on the West Coast. Thomas is a lean, projectable righthander with an 89-94 mph fastball and lots of room to get stronger and add more velocity. He complements his fastball with an above-average, mid-70s breaking ball he commands well and a changeup that flashes average. He throws all three pitches for strikes out of a quiet, effortless delivery and has a natural feel for throwing strikes in general. Thomas’ delivery is slow and methodical and will need to be sped up in pro ball. He is not particularly twitchy and is only an average athlete at best, although he maintains good body control and coordination. Thomas missed the Boras Classic with elbow tendinitis and did not pitch in the CIF playoffs. His projectable frame and ability to throw three pitches for strikes still has teams interested if he’s signable. He is committed to Duke.
