Though Trautwein hasn’t performed as expected at Northwestern, he’s been a name for scouts for a while. He’s underachieved offensively, and didn’t stand out in the Wildcats lineup this year, slashing .194/.315/.466 despite hitting nine home runs among his 10 extra-base hits and walking almost as many times as he struck out. The 21-year-old has baseball bloodlines, as his father John appeared in nine games for the Red Sox in 1988, and both his uncle and grandfather played in the minor leagues.
