Aldrich has been a reliable member of Tulane’s rotation for two seasons after spending a season at Santa Barbara (Calif.) JC and two years (including one redshirt season) at Santa Clarita (Calif.) JC. Aldrich has been steady but rarely spectacular. He was 5-3, 3.70 with 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings and 2.5 walks per nine. The lefty sits 87-90 mph and will bump it up to 92-93 at his best. He does hide the ball well for much of his delivery, but hitters still get good swings against his below-average fastball. His above-average sweepy low-80s slider is a better pitch. It’s especially effective against righthanded hitters as he manages to get it down and in on them. They hit only .137/.148/.235 against it in 2021.
