Track Record: The Astros signed Ullola as an 18-year-old, then moved him quickly. He split his first season between the Dominican Summer League and the Rookie-level Florida Complex League, racking up 38 strikeouts in 24.1 innings. He made his full-season debut in 2022 and has moved a level a year for the past two seasons. Ullola made the jump to High-A in 2023. He made 25 appearances for Asheville but struggled with command and allowed too many home runs. Ullola improved his strike-throwing throughout the season, cutting his walk rate by a third from July 1 forward.
Scouting Report: Ullola’s explosive fastball leads his arsenal and rates as the best in the system. The pitch is a classic four-seamer, sitting 93-94 mph and touching 95 at peak with heavy ride and a tough angle when located at the top of the zone. Ullola shows fringy command of the pitch, but it will generate whiffs in-zone when located. His primary secondary is a mid-80s slider with gyro shape and some late cut. The slider doesn’t miss many bats but Ullola has shown average command of the pitch. Ullola also throws an upper-70s curveball with two-plane break but his command of the pitch is fringy. Ullola threw an upper-80s changeup but it was thrown infrequently.
The Future: Ullola has big stuff and has shown slight command gains but will probably never have the command to start. His future likely lies as a middle reliever where he can air it out.

Track Record: Signed out of the Dominican Republic during the 2021 international signing period, Ullola first popped during that year's Dominican Summer League season. He struck out 34 batters in 21 innings before coming to the U.S. and making two appearances in the Florida Complex League. In 2022, Ullola was assigned to Low-A Fayetteville in late April and made his full-season debut on May 1. He made 22 appearances, 11 of them starts, and recorded a 3.25 ERA, while allowing a .155 average and striking out 38% of batters. At 19 years old on Opening Day, Ullola was one of the youngest pitchers in a full-season league.
Scouting Report: A fire-breathing dragon in the making, Ullola's current form is heavily centered around his easy plus fastball. He sits 93-95 mph touches 98 at peak. Ullola's fastball creates both heavy riding life and a flat plane of approach to the plate. The combination of velocity, movement and release traits translated to eye-popping whiff numbers against the pitch. Among pitchers who threw 700 or more fastballs in 2022, Ullola's 48% whiff rate was the highest in the minor leagues by nearly eight full percentage points. While Ullola's fastball is plus, his trio of secondaries is still fairly raw. He mixes a mid-80s slider, low-80s curveball and high-80s changeup but struggles to command all of his secondary offerings for long stretches. His command overall is below-average, but it's reasonable to expect improved strike-throwing as Ullola moves up the minor league ladder.
The Future: A tantalizing talent who has drawn comparisons with Cristian Javier from some within the Astros' organization, Ullola has the look of a high-leverage power reliever in the long term, but he will be given every opportunity to start.
