Troye missed all of last season after having Tommy John surgery, but he returned this year and made 15 appearances out of UCSB’s bullpen. Troye is a big-bodied righthander at 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, but he has a history of elbow injuries and very little control. His fastball sits 92-96 and has touched 99 mph and he backs it up with a developing cutter in the low 90s. Troye has swing-and-miss stuff when he’s in the strike zone, but getting him to throw consistent strikes has long been a challenge. He had 29 strikeouts and 25 walks in 18 innings this year and is difficult to trust in high-leverage situations. Troye’s size and arm strength have some teams interested even with his control and health concerns. He is a candidate to go late on the draft’s second day or early on the third day.
