Wold completed his fourth year at UNLV with his best collegiate season, producing an outstanding batting line of .429/.491/.793 and 12 home runs in 140 at-bats. He’s got very good plate discipline, walking more than he struck out in 2021. His defensive position is the question mark. At 5-foot-10, 220 pounds, Wold has a prototypical catcher’s build, except that he throws lefthanded. He’s primarily been a first baseman at UNLV, and is a solid defender despite being a bit short for the position. Wold is athletic enough to play a corner outfield position at the next level with just enough arm for right field. He profiles best as a bench bat at the higher levels of pro baseball with the ability to fill in at various positions. Wold got in some extra at-bats prior to the draft in the California Collegiate League.
