The clutch walkoff single against North Carolina that sent Arkansas to the College World Series isn’t the only highlight the senior Razorback displayed in his 2022 campaign. Slavens hit .255/.332/.523 this spring with 16 home runs and 10 doubles. Scouts rave about Slavens’ compact stroke and straightaway power. He’ll launch pitches up in the zone into orbit and those homers are worth the price of admission. There’s no cutting down on his swing with two strikes, though, as he looks to launch the ball in all counts, which contributed to his 23.8% strikeout rate. On the defensive side, Slavens moved around for the Hogs, most recently playing first base. He’ll need to develop his game to stick there long term. He’s serviceable in the corner outfield, but again, continued development will be needed. His power should translate well to a wood bat and will serve as his carrying tool up the minor league ladder.
