Age At Draft: 21.2
Rey is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound lefthander with swing-and-miss stuff, but he’s also consistently struggled to harness it throughout his career. In 2023 Rey posted a 2.73 ERA over 15 starts and 82.1 innings, with a 28.5% strikeout rate and a 14.8% walk rate. Rey throws his fastball around 90 mph but has been up to 94 with the pitch, and equally mixes in a mid-80s changeup and mid-80s slider. He throws from a lower, three-quarter slot and has a bit of crossfiring action in his landing that could inhibit his command. Rey pitched in the Cape Cod League in 2022 and 2023, where he continued to miss bats at a high rate, but also struggled with his control. If a team can help him put his solid three-pitch mix over the plate more frequently, he could be an interesting look out of the bullpen in pro ball.
