One of the best players to come out of the Alaska high school ranks in recent years, Jessee was Gonzaga’s closer in 2021 as a redshirt freshman. This year he became the team’s multi-inning, multi-facet reliever. In some outings he’d work four or more innings of relief, while on other weekends, he’d throw three innings over a pair of games. He has plenty of arm strength with an average fastball that touches 98 mph and sits 93-95 mph, but the shape of his fastball is pretty ordinary. He mixes in a low-80s above-average slider and a below-average mid-80s changeup that is primarily used against lefties. Like many college relievers, Jessee will likely have an adjustment to make to adapt to the heavier pro workload. He only worked on back-to-back days once this season. In that March 9 game, his stuff was not as firm and he had his worst outing of the season. Jessee has a sturdy frame and some projection remaining as a fresh-armed cold-weather pitcher.
