View Draft Report
Harvey pitched sparingly his first two seasons at UC Santa Barbara, but he emerged as the Gauchos closer this season and tied for the Big West Conference lead with 11 saves. His fastball sits 92-93 mph and touches 96-97 mph out of a strong, 6-foot-3 frame. He still has some physical projection remaining and could throw harder in the future. Harvey complements his fastball with a fringy mid-80s slider that flashes solid tilt at its best, although it flattens out at times. He throws plenty of strikes and is reliable in high-leverage spots. Harvey pitched as a starter in the West Coast League after the season and may get a chance to start in pro ball. He projects to be a reliever long-term and will likely be taken on the draft's third day.

A 6-foot-3, 195-pound righthander, Harvey served as UC Santa Barbara’s closer this spring and posted a 3.68 ERA over 29.1 innings, with 37 strikeouts (28.9 K%) and just eight walks (6.3 BB%). He uses a fastball/slider combination and sits in the 91-93 mph range, though he can run the pitch up to 96-97 at peak. Harvey’s slider earns fringe-average grades from scouts and sits in the low 80s with solid tilt at times, though the pitch can flatten out as well. He has a solid frame with some physical projection remaining. Following the spring season Harvey pitched in the West Coast League as a starter and continued to post solid peripheral numbers, with 12 strikeouts and just three walks in 9.2 innings.
