Drafted in the 15th round (461st overall) by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021 (signed for $90,000).

The Rays showed last year that building a bullpen around pitchers with different looks can give hitters issues. Angel fits that bill as a hard-throwing (91-95 mph and he’s touched 98), slinging sidearm pitcher. He tries to throw sinkers that hitters will foul off or beat into the ground. But his control deserted him in 2021 and he left the Louisiana-Lafayette team after throwing just 8.1 innings (walking seven in that time).
