Sanchez doesn't look the part, with a less-than-inspirational 6-foot, 199-pound physique that includes quite a bit of baby fat, but he shows flashes of excellent raw tools. His best asset is his explosive arm, a tool that some scouts grade as a 70 on the 20-to-80 scale. Sanchez is surprisingly athletic behind the plate and moves well laterally. Offensively, he has an aggressive, all-or-nothing style. Sanchez has average raw power to his pull side, and he often sells out to hit for power. Scouts aren't sure that he'll ever hit for average, but they love his makeup and ability behind the plate. He's been compared to Martin Maldonado, another Puerto Rican catcher whose defense has allowed him to carve out a successful big league career.
