View Draft Report
De La Calle began his college career at Miami Dade JC and was drafted in the 33rd round by the Rangers in 2013. He went on to Florida State instead of signing and struggled at the plate in his first season with the Seminoles. He's bounced back this year, hitting for some power, to go with his typically strong defense. De La Calle has excellent catch-and-throw skills and controls the running game. He is bilingual and earns praise for the way he handles Florida State's pitching staff. De La Calle's defense is good enough that he won't have to hit much to provide value to a team. He's done enough at the plate this year to rebuild his draft stock and should be a solid senior sign.
