A 37th-round pick of the Guardians in 2018, Borden transferred to Georgia Tech after rarely playing in three seasons at Louisville. Given regular at-bats, Borden blossomed. He played shortstop and second base for the Yellow Jackets, although he’ll be a second baseman in pro ball with emergency capability to play short. He hit .335/.466/.689 with 20 home runs while playing average defense at second base. There’s not a plus tool on Borden’s scouting report, but other than a below-average hit tool, there are a whole lot of 50s. He has an average arm to go with his average defense at second and he’s shown average power and speed as well. Borden’s biggest knock is his age. He’s almost 23 already, which means that a team that drafts him as a senior sign will have to move him aggressively.

Draft Prospects
Borden has been a standout for Providence High in Clarksville, Ind., across the Ohio River from Louisville, where he's been committed since he was a freshman. Borden has quick hands and, at his best, drives the ball well. The righthanded hitter hasn't made as much contact this spring as scouts would like to see, however. Listed at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, Borden has a projectable frame and should hit for more power as he physically matures and cuts down on his swings and misses. Borden stands out for his athleticism and will get the chance to stay at shortstop. Borden's spring means he's likely to get to Louisville, where he'll be able to refine his tools.
