Drafted in the 11th round (335th overall) by the Cincinnati Reds in 2014.
View Draft Report
Trees has great baseball bloodlines as a second cousin of big leaguer Jayson Werth and relative of ex-big leaguers Dennis Werth and Dick Schofield. His athleticism and bloodlines have helped make him one of the top defenders in the class. He has advanced catch-and-throw skills, having handled decent velocity last summer on the travel-ball circuit and having shown good blocking skills. He has a plus arm as well and is ready for pro ball defensively. He's not ready offensively, though, with a sound swing but pitch recognition and contact issues. He also doesn't have a lot of pop presently. The listed 6-foot-2, 195-pounder has committed to Louisville, where he likely would step in as a freshman and play.
