Stankiewicz's father Andy played in the major leagues for parts of seven seasons and now is the head coach at Grand Canyon. The son, listed at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, has similar size to his father (who was listed at 5-foot-9, 165 pounds during his playing days) and a similar game as a grinder with savvy. He has the additional benefit of batting lefthanded. Stankiewicz has a good approach at the plate, handles the bat and has enough gap power to keep pitchers honest. He was Arizona State's leading hitter for most of the season. He has good hands but needs to move to second base as a pro because he lacks shortstop range and actions.
