Canada's best position prospect is third baseman Dustin Houle, who has an average body at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds. He has a compact, line-drive swing from the right side of the plate and has shown he can catch up to quality velocity. He sometimes has a little bit of a bat wrap, and scouts question whether he'll be able to hit enough to stay at the hot corner. Some would like to convert Houle to catcher because of his soft hands, strong arm and dirtbag mentality. Houle is also one of the youngest players in this year's high school class, as he won't turn 18 until November.

A third baseman during his prep years in British Columbia, Houle shifted to catcher when the Brewers drafted him. For someone who hasn?t been behind the plate very long, he already shows advanced defensive skills. He does a good job of handling the pitching staff and has a plus arm, throwing out 39 percent of PL basestealers. Kelly, himself a former big league catcher, said that Houle?s release and arm stood out as the best in the league, with pop times of 1.8 seconds to second base. His bat is a work in progress, but he?s shown some bat speed and gap power. He?ll have to improve his plate discipline to enhance his offensive profile, but a future as a catch-and-throw receiver is possible.
