Gideon has more polish than most high school sluggers, which should come as no surprise considering his father Ron works as a development supervisor in the Rockies system. Well built at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Gideon has plenty of bat speed, strength and raw righthanded power. Though his swing gets long at times, he shows the ability to make adjustments at the plate. He has enough arm strength for third base and his hands are OK, but he's a well below-average runner who may not move well enough to stay at the hot corner. His only other position is first base--unless he wanted to try catching, an intriguing possibility that would enhance his value. A Texas A&M recruit, he may not be signable outside of the top four or five rounds.
