Drafted in the 4th round (134th overall) by the Texas Rangers in 2017 (signed for $340,000).
View Draft Report
Dease fits into the classic projectable prep righthander category. He stands at 6-foot-3 and roughly 185 pounds and has plenty of room to fill in his sloped shoulders. Dease pitches in the upper 80s and can touch 92, and his arm speed and body indicate that there could be an uptick in velocity in his future. His offspeed stuff is below-average at present, though he does show flashes of sharp spin on his breaking ball, and some scouts think he can develop it into an average pitch. Dease is committed to Central Florida.
