Fitz-Gerald is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound infielder and switch hitter who is the son of Todd Fitz-Gerald, the head coach of a Stoneman Douglas High School team that is annually one of the best programs in the country. As might be expected of a coach’s son, Fitz-Gerald is a heady player with advanced baseball skills but perhaps no carrying tools. He’s a solid hitter who could get to average raw power in the future, though at second base he might be a fringy defender with average arm strength and below-average speed. Some scouts wonder if he could be a catcher conversion candidate, while others want to see him prove his offensive chops regardless in college at NC State.
