Hoover is an athletic two-way player with a strong and filled out 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame and tons of raw power to go with it. He put on one of the most impressive batting practice displays at the 2023 Area Code Games where he hit multiple balls on top of the building behind San Diego’s right field fence, though he’s still on the raw side as a hitter and has some significant contact questions. Hoover is also a righthanded pitcher and has thrown a 90-92 mph fastball, a slurvy breaking ball in the mid 70s and an 80-82 mph changeup. On top of his two-way exploits on the baseball field he’s also a talented high school football player and comes from an athletic family. His brother Josh is a quarterback at TCU and his father Alex was a linebacker at Colorado State. Hoover is committed to Oklahoma State.
