Nimmala is the younger brother of 2023 Blue Jays first round shortstop Arjun Nimmala, and a solid prospect in his own right though not quite a first round talent straight out of high school. Akhil has a larger frame at the same age and is listed at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. He has played third base, first base and corner outfield and should fit at one of those spots though scouts aren’t sure which spot is best. His carrying tool is his raw power, which has a chance to be plus. He can put together an impressive batting practice but his swing decisions and contact questions haven’t allowed him to fully tap into that power in games. Nimmala is committed to Central Florida and some scouts might prefer he go to school where he can polish his hitting ability and add clarity to his defensive profile.
