Volantis is a 6-foot-6, 200-pound lefthander with tons of projection remaining on his frame and unique ability to spin the baseball. After not pitching in many high-profile events during the 2023 showcase circuit, Volantis was an early helium prospect in the spring of 2024 thanks to velocity that has ticked up to 87-91 mph and touched 92-93 and a no-doubt plus curveball. The spike-grip breaking ball is his calling card, and a pitch that he has a knack for locating more frequently than his fastball at this stage despite its excellent depth and finish. Volantis needs to improve his fastball command and add more strength to his frame, but he’s solidly inside top-five round consideration. He is committed to Southern California.
