One of the most polished hitters on the country, Weinstein has a clean, calm, quiet swing from the left side with little wasted movement. It’s a compact stroke with a flat path, staying on plane for a long time with the ability to manipulate the barrel and find the sweet spot, leading to a low swing-and-miss rate with consistent high quality contact. It’s a hit-over-power offensive game, lacing line drives around the field with mostly gap power, but that power is starting to tick up and he has more room to add strength to his lean frame. Weinstein is known for his offensive game, but he has shown good defensive actions, instincts and body control at shortstop. He’s a fringe-average runner whose first-step quickness and arm strength could ultimately lead him to second or third base as he gets closer to the big leagues, but he should get the chance to develop at shortstop given the defensive strides he has made.
